I Passed Up "The Deal of the Century"

Do you use Facebook? You know, that social networking miracle that is supposed to help us stay in touch with friends and family and maybe make more friends in the process. If you are a Facebook user chances are you've joined a few groups. If you have than there is an even greater chance you've ran into a few "control freaks".

I communicated with a "control freak" today. This individual runs a Civil War group on Facebook, and I have shared my articles numerous times there with no problems, until today. I shared a new article in the group and as with all of my articles , there is a link to purchase my book, "Blood in the Ozarks: Expanded Second Edition."

Most groups have some type of "no selling" clause in their rules, but generally speaking, if you have taken the time to research and write something of historical significance and have a link to your book in the article, it's not considered an act of "selling" because it is clear that you took the time to contribute something to their group.

The article I posted today was titled: "Governor Claiborne Fox Jackson: Secessionist or Peacemaker?" I used numerous newspapers of the era to make my case that Jackson was pushed into the Civil War and was only a secessionist as a last resort.

Shortly after receiving a notification that the post had been approved, I received another notification that the post had been removed, the reason cited was "no-selling". Shortly after receiving the removal notification I received a friend request from the group owner. Shortly after receiving the friend request I received a message from the group owner stating that he did not allow posts with marketing links. The message also had language stating if I paid the owner $200 a month he would allow me make one post per week in his Facebook group.. The following is a screenshot of our conversation. I tried to be civil but the group owner kept trying to pressure me and when this didn't work, resorted to telling me I was not a Christian and needed to pray. Below are the screenshots of the conversation:

So that's that. I might kick myself for not taking him up on his amazing offer (just kidding) but in the meantime he should feel free to screenshot the conversation and share it himself. I have the feeling it's going to hurt him more than it will me.

Just think, If I had agreed to give him $200 a month I could have been a good Christian.

I'm not asking for your money. You can visit my website and read my articles for free, and if you think my books look interesting feel free to purchase one.

Fake News and False Information On Mississippi Scalawag Flag Proposal

WREG News Channel 3 (Memphis , Tennessee) is reporting : Photo credit: WREG News 3 "Laurin Stennis’ flag design has gained so much popularity that even those who order the flag want her autograph. She matched the colors exactly to the United States flag. “I think those are wonderful colors and the symbolism is meaningful, but also this is a strong standalone but when you pair it with the United States flag they make a handsome couple,” said Stennis. Nineteen stars circle around a large star, which represents Mississippi as the 20th state to join the Union in 1817. The large star is called Bonnie Blue. Stennis had some help producing the flags with Complete Flag Source. To date, well over 2,000 Stennis flags have been sold." According to the report Stennis' asks: "Is our logo doing it’s job? I would argue absolutely not because every time it comes up we fight about and we get tense.” Okay, where to start? WREG reports that the flag is...

The War That Wasn't: The Real Agenda Against All Things Confederate

The illustration on the left is an artist's concept of a Union soldier. I have to admit, I'm quite perplexed by it. Why? I shall tell you why. First he has a rifle. Second he has a uniform, a canteen a bedroll and a knapsack. In other words, this would-be soldier has all of the supplies and equipment that would ready him for a military campaign / battle. Why does this perplex me?  It perplexes me because recent events have led me to the conclusion that the "War Between the States" never happened. Given the events of recent years it's natural to conclude it didn't happen. Fox news compiled a running list of Confederate monuments that have been removed thus far and while the majority of those were at the hands of Democrats, there are several Republicans behind the removal of them.   Below is the list compiled by Fox News correspondent Christopher Carbone. christopher.carbone@foxnews.com Annapolis, Md. How We Got Here , What Can We Do?

For as long as I can remember both the Republican and Democratic parties have had their fair share of Lincoln defenders. The Republican Party was founded with the election of Abraham Lincoln thus Lincoln has been the party's trademark so to speak. The problem with this is that the Republican Party, presents itself as the party of smaller government, states rights and defenders of the Constitution and freedom. It is a problem because Lincoln was a proponent of big government, and committed acts that violated the Constitution. Ah, but defenders of Lincoln proclaim that President Lincoln had  to violate the Constitution to "save the Union." This defense of Lincoln by the Republican party has been effective from the end of the War Between the States until November , 2020 At the time of America's "Civil War" one could describe the Republicans as the Liberals and the Democrats as the Conservatives. This began to change with the election of President Franklin D. R...
